On reaching Madras in 1933, Lohia joined Gandhiji in the fight to liberate the country. In it, he duly presented the future framework of the socialist movement. In 1935, at that time, Congress President, Pandit Nehru appointed Lohia as the General Secretary of Congress. Later, in August 1942, Mahatma Gandhi declared the Quit India Movement in which he took part and touched the new peaks of conflict. Jaiprakash Narayan and Dr. Lohia escaped from Hazaribagh jail and stayed underground and led the spectacular movement of the movement. But finally he was arrested and then released in 1946. The years of 1946-47 remained a crucial year of Lohia's life. There were many differences between him and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru at the time of Independence, due to which the two separated. Later on 12th October, 1967, Lohia died at the age of 57 years.
